Protecting Our Coastline

Consultations relating to the next Island Plan include recommendation to not only extend the current terrestrial boundaries of our Jersey National Park but to also include elements of the marine environment.

The prospect of a Jersey National Park extending into the latter would make the Island truly unique.

In support of these bold recommendations are the following quotes.

“A Marine Park would protect and showcase the very best of Jersey’s sea habitats and boost its reputation as a forward-thinking and responsible jurisdiction”
Senator Lyndon Farnham, Economic Development Minister

“It makes perfect sense to have a national park that extends beyond the shoreline to the sea around Jersey”
Charles Alluto CEO National Trust for Jersey

“This would increase awareness of our responsibilities as stewards of the natural world and bring about a range of welcome benefits”
Editorial, Jersey Evening Post

“Strengthening the boundaries of the Jersey National Park will ensure that land and seascape protection is by far the most potent environmental legacy our generation can possibly leave”
Mike Stentiford, Jersey National Park
