It's World Wetlands Day, and we're looking forward to the day when The National Trust for Jersey Wetland Centre reopens!
Situated in the heart of the Jersey National Park at La Mare au Seigneur, and better known as St Ouen's Pond, did you know that this nature reserve contains an incredible mosaic of wetland habitats and is the largest area of natural open water in Jersey?

On this Global Community Engagement Day we're looking back at our story when, in 2009, 7,000 members of our island community came together in a peaceful demonstration to call for protection of our precious coastline.
Nearly twelve years later, our National Park now covers 2,145 hectares – 16% of the Island’s land mass – and any inappropriate development within its boundaries is strictly regulated by the planning department.
It just goes to show that community engagement is essential if we're to make big changes, both in our island and in our world.

We're delighted to have added £140 to the Jersey Christmas Appeal on Channel 103 yesterday.
The winning bidder will enjoy a springtime walk in St Ouen's Bay in the Park's grasslands, guided by Michael Stentiford who will share information on the environmental progress which has been made in the bay since the 1970's.
From an eroded landscape a half century ago to a major part of the Jersey National Park in 2020, it's a fabulous eco-story which the winner will hear all about 💛💚💙 ... See MoreSee Less
